Marion “Suge” Knight is one of the most infamous characters in the history of rap music. The co-founder of Death Row Records helped bring gangsta rap to the forefront in the early 1990s. Knight has a notorious rap sheet that would even make the most hardened criminals blush. They’re even making a movie about his wild life and times.

Jay-Z was just getting started as Knight was building his empire. The New York legend wasn’t known to have had too much to say about Suge. Knight respects Jay-Z’s work, but a newly resurfaced interview includes a crazy story about one of their interactions.

In a 2001 interview with Carson Daly, Suge told the story of Jay-Z being bound, gagged, and robbed during a visit to Los Angeles. Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre were working on some things with Hova. It was shortly thereafter that Jay was tied up and robbed.

“The only thing I know about Jay-Z is that he came to L.A. a few times, and Snoop and Dre told him that, ‘When you on the West Coast, you wrote a song for me. Don’t worry ’bout nothin’. Next thing I know he’s taped up, robbed, and gagged.”

The viral video has shocked fans who had no idea the interview even existed. Suge went on to say that he didn’t know who was behind the alleged attack. Knight went on to say he likes Jay-Z and never personally met him.

Suge Knight is currently involved with several horrific charges of his own. Knight faces murder, robbery, and voluntary manslaughter charges. It is possible that he will never see the light of day again. This rare interview gives fans a look into the dealings of one of rap’s most dangerous men.
