Nicki Minaj season is rapidly approaching, as she prepares to make her formal return this Friday with the release of her new single, “Do We Have A Problem,” featuring Lil Baby. The music video will star Joseph Sikora and Cory Hardrict, heightening anticipation for its release. Nicki recently explained why she will not work with City Girls.

Nicki’s new single will be her first taste of solo music since the re-release of Pink Friday last year, when she released three new songs, including “Seeing Green” featuring Drake and Lil Wayne. Nicki has been making the rounds at various radio stations ahead of the release of her new single, including The Morning Hustle, where she recently discussed the possibility of working with the City Girls.

The Miami duo came under fire for siding with Cardi B during the Bronx MC’s feud with Nicki Minaj. Then an old video of JT seemingly taking shots at Nicki and Cardi from before they were famous surfaced. Both of these incidents appeared to have left a negative impression on Nicki.

When asked if she would collaborate with the City Girls, Nicki Minaj remained silent, prompting a follow-up question to clarify whether it would not happen or if the song was already completed.

“What I will say is that a few years ago, I saw a video of them and I asked someone on their team at that time. I asked someone about them. I was thinking about jumping on a record. One of their records that was out at the time. Then, social media happened with when people will say things about someone, like an artist. Whether they tweet it or say it. Or whether it gets pulled out of them in an interview or something like that.”

Nicki went on to say that comments on the internet and in interviews are permanent.

“An artist is a human being first. If I was about to go out to dinner with you tonight and then I get something that says, ‘Yo, she don’t really f*ck with you like that. She was saying this and she don’t really like you…’ I’m not gonna go out to dinner with you anymore because I know that I like you but you don’t really like me.”

She stated that it is difficult to ignore these remarks, especially when they were made on separate occasions over the course of several years. She stated that she has “let go” and moved on, but she added, “Why would I work with someone that doesn’t like me?”

Nicki has a good reason for her decision. Let’s see what happens. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
