Bill Belichick just finished up another excellent season as the head coach of the New England Patriots. The Pats once again qualified for the NFL postseason. Even the departure of Tom Brady hasn’t slowed down Belichick’s unbelievable run of success. Belichick’s coaching tree reaches far and wide in the National Football League.

Former Patriots assistant Brian Flores has sued the NFL for discriminatory practices regarding hiring. Flores also included the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, and New York Giants in the suit. The 58-page filing includes some communications with Bill Belichick that have placed the New England head coach in hot water.

Flores was a candidate for the New York head coaching position. Belichick told Flores he was getting the job. It turned out he was texting the wrong Brian. Bill was trying to notify Brian Daboll.

“Sorry – I f*cked this up. I double checked & I misread the text. I think they are naming Daboll. I’m sorry about that. BB”

Belichick doesn’t appear to have done anything wrong. It was simply a mix-up. That said, it’s a bad look for a coach who already has a reputation for dishonesty.

Bill Belichick will likely have to answer for his gaffe. There doesn’t appear to be any intentional malice on his part. Brian Flores probably felt a little differently after thinking he’d landed the job of his dreams.
