The LA Lakers have some serious firepower as it is but they need to reinforce their lineup for the next season. Now the Lakers are going after Hield again and fans are on their edge for such a revelation.
LeBron, Westbrook, Davis, etc. may be the star players for the Lakers but they have failed to impact consistently throughout the season. Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes reported that the Lakers have “reached out to the Kings about a Talen Horton-Tucker package for Buddy Hield.” The Kings are however hesitant to part ways with Hield.
“League sources have told me the Lakers have reached out to the Kings about a Talen Horton-Tucker package for Hield. Still trying to make that happen. Obviously the Kings are like, ‘No. We feel like there’s more lucrative deals out there.’ The Kings are going to be active. They’ve got a whole bunch of people calling them.”
The perimeter shooting of Hield would be a great fit on a Lakers team. Lakers need more floor-spacing around the star duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. His playing style would definitely compliment the Lakers in certain crucial areas.
The 29-year-old Hield isn’t having his best season, averaging 14.9 points per game while shooting just 38.6 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from three. His points are his lowest mark since the 2017-18 season as is his field-goal percentage. Hield’s three-point percentage is his lowest mark since his rookie year in 2016-17.
Horton-Tucker has been a target of the Kings but experts doubt whether the swap deal will go through. Horton-Tucker, 21, is averaging 10.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He’s shooting 40.7 percent from the field and a woeful 24.8 percent from three.
It would be interesting to see such a transfer go through even with the different variables at play. Whatever the case may be, the Lakers are setting up a star team that should give the other teams a run for their money.
