Samuel L Jackson has had an extraordinary life and career. Despite never winning an Academy Award for his many notable film roles, Jackson received an honorary Oscar earlier this year. Jackson has interacted and worked with some of the biggest names in the world.

Martin Luther King is not one of those names. Beyonce’s controversial mother, Tina Lawson, recently shared a photo that has been going around online that allegedly showed Samuel with MLK back in 1966. Supposedly, Sam Jackson was a freshman at Morehouse College at the time and was in the photo.

Jackson quickly refuted the claim. As amazing as his life and experiences have been, he did not meet Martin Luther King in 1966. Sam quickly quieted the rumors.

“Sorry @mstinalawson, that’s NOT me.”

Tina Lawson removed the fraudulent photo as soon as she got the new information. Several users on the platform commented that Jackson, who was the apparent subject of the photo, was wrong. The fact remains that Jackson was not in the photo.

The United States recently celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The civil rights leader is an iconic reminder of the long and difficult fight for equality in the USA. Samuel L. Jackson likely respects Dr. King’s life and work, but he did not join him in a pool hall in 1966.
