Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ lasted 19 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States, making it the chart’s longest-running number-one single. Lil Nas was clearly enthusiastic about the arrival of his Montero album in September 2021, as seen by his promotional efforts. The rapper was recently sued for allegedly stealing the concept for album promotion.

When Lil Nas X was preparing to release his long-awaited debut album, Montero, in mid-September, he came up with an adorable idea to keep fans updated on the record’s progress. He had often referred to the project as his baby, even going so far as to give himself a fake baby bulge to indicate that it would be delivered soon.

“SURPRISE! I can’t believe i’m finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy MONTERO is due September 17, 2021.”

Along with the false baby bulge and ultrasound picture, Lil Nas X shared a promotional video of himself being taken to the hospital when his water broke, letting fans know that Montero’s arrival was approaching.

Metal-rap singer Dana Dentata alleges that Nas X’s record marketing that imitated a birth was taken from her months after the album was successfully released and Nas X conducted his subsequent promotion and charting for Montero. Dentata’s representative sent Nas X a cease-and-desist letter this week, alleging copyright infringement.

“I demand that you immediately cease the use and distribution of all infringing works derived from the works, and all copies, including electronic copies, of same, that you deliver to me, if applicable, all unused, undistributed copies of same, or destroy such copies immediately and that you desist from this or any other infringement of her rights in the future. It is inconceivable that you would wish to jeopardize your artist’s public image, and reputation by your client falsely claiming he created this copyrighted content.”

Dentata had released a similar ultrasound and pregnancy-related album promo on her Instagram in July to promote the self-titled single for her September 3 Pantychrist album. Perry C. Wander, Dentata’s lawyer, also issued a statement, accusing Lil Nas X of copying Dana’s “swagger.”

“Lil Nas, desperate not to be a one-hit-wonder, swagger jacked my client’s music video story and stole her struggle sauce and artistic vision to avoid a sophomore slump. Dana is a genuine and authentic artist.”

Let’s see whether Lil Nas X can handle another obstacle. To get the further updates, Keep an eye on Thirsty.
