Idris Elba is well-known for his acting skills. Elba has long been considered the internet’s second choice to portray James Bond after Daniel Craig. The producers have stated that Idris Elba has been discussed as the next 007.
According to Screenrant, The producers of the James Bond franchise reveal that Idris Elba’s name has been mentioned, but one factor complicates the matter. With the release of No Time to Die last year, the long-running spy franchise attained a significant milestone. No Time to Die, directed by Cary Fukunaga, was both the franchise’s 25th feature and Daniel Craig’s last picture.
Even before Craig said his final goodbyes, the internet was buzzing with speculation about the next James Bond. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the show’s producers, claimed that they were waiting for the dust to settle on “No Time to Die” before beginning their hunt.
In a recent interview with Deadline’s Crew Call podcast, Bond producers were asked if Elba’s name has ever come up in connection with the franchise. Broccoli acknowledged that he has been involved in the debate, but that it is still tough to go ahead in the aftermath of Craig’s departure.
“Well, we know Idris, we’re friends with him, and he’s a magnificent actor. And, you know, it’s been part of the conversation, but it’s always difficult to have the conversation when you have someone in the seat. So, you know, I think we have decided that until No Time to Die has had its run and Daniel has been able to – well, we’ve all been able to savor, reap the benefits of Daniel’s wonderful tenure, we’re not gonna think about, or talk about anybody else.”
Elba stated in October 2021 that he will not be the next Bond, but he expressed interest in the role. Fans who have been rooting for Idris Elba to play the next James Bond will be overjoyed to learn that the producers are aware of their interest. Keep an eye on Thirsty for the latest updates.
