Young Dolph was fatally shot and murdered in his hometown of Memphis in November 2021. The life of a rapper has its pros and cons, as it is never smooth sailing for anyone in the world of Hip-Hop. While there is certainly a lot of money and fame that comes with being a rapper, there is also the risk of gang warfare that ends in their deaths.

When Young Dolph was fatally shot a few months ago, Kay lost his best friend, mentor, and business partner. Dolph’s regular collaborator has spoken about the loss of his pal, and in a new song preview for “Proud,” the rapper takes another glimpse at how he’s feeling these days.

Glock shared a video preview of his new song “Proud,” which is set to be released later this year. He rapped that he believes his mentor is looking down on him with a smile. Glock continued to lament his loss while singing the song.

I lost my dog, I lost my man, won’t lie, I’m really lost inside/I can get it back in blood but still, I can’t get back the time/And f*ck that humble sh*t, let’s go, you know I’m spazzin’ out ’bout mine/I got Dolph lookin’ down on me, I know that n***a proud.

With the upcoming release of Paper Route Empire’s compilation album, Long Live Dolph, it’s unclear whether this song will be included in the project. Jay Fizzle’s tribute to Dolph, which serves as the album’s title tune, was previously released by the label. Listen to Key Glock’s new song preview below and stay tuned for the official release.
