The cover art for the latest edition of the WWE 2K series of video games was recently revealed which featured WWE legend Rey Mysterio. It instantly caught on with the fans who appreciated the change in style.

Nils Ahrensmeier first kicked off the Twitter thread when he uploaded two photos of WWE 2K22’s cover. The leak reignited the interest for the game after WWE 2K22 was delayed several times.

Following the release, Rey Mysterio started trending on Twittter with many hailing him as an “legend” of the game. An user wrote on the platform, “Rey Mysterio popularized a style of wrestling that has influenced a generation, a generation that includes some of your faves.”

The fans present an united front as they appreciated Rey’s talent. They were quick to point out how he deserves the fame and defended the wrestler against Sasha Banks fans. One user said, “I don’t wanna see or hear any of the slander going on but people are really sh*tting on and disrespecting a Legend/Icon in Rey Mysterio over a f*cking Game Cover.”

However, one user present was on a neutral ground as he urged fans to put aside the differences and appreciate both the wrestlers. The user tweeted a picture of Sasha posing with Rey. The tweet read, Sasha Banks acknowledges Rey Mysterio’s greatness. I love both wrestlers.”
