Whitney Houston is the most awarded female vocalist of all time, with seven consecutive number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Whitney Houston’s music has been played at weddings and funerals. People have even attempted it on reality shows such as The X Factor Australia. The famous singer’s single ‘I will always love you’ has recently been certified diamond.

I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston has reportedly been certified diamond in the United States. A diamond award is given by the Recording Industry Association of America when a song reaches 10 times platinum, that is, 10 million sales and streaming units in the United States, because the RIAA now includes streams as well.

Dolly Parton wrote and released I Will Always Love You in 1973, and while Parton’s version was commercially successful, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs list in 1974 and again in 1982, Whitney Houston made the song her own. Her version of the song was released in 1992 to coincide with her film debut in The Bodyguard, in which she co-starred with Kevin Costner.

The song “I Will Always Love You” was included on the film’s soundtrack. The single lasted 14 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 list, and the soundtrack of The Bodyguard dominated the Grammys the following year, with Whitney Houston winning album of the year, record of the year, and best female pop vocal performance.
