Kanye West has his sights set on Russia. According to his partner, the artist and entrepreneur is planning a trip to Moscow later this year to meet with President Vladimir Putin. He is also planning to play his first-ever Sunday Service events in Russia, and grow his commercial activities in the country.
Ye also plans to expand his business in Russia with billionaire developer Aras Agalarov, dubbed “Russia’s Trump,” and Agalarov’s singer son, EMIN. According to Ye’s confidant and strategic advisor Ameer Sudan, travel plans are now in the works for spring or summer, depending on Ye’s schedule.
Russia is going to be “a second home” for Ye, says Sudan: “He will be spending a lot of time out there.” According to Sudan, Ye is also working on new commercial arrangements with the Agalarovs, and while he couldn’t reveal the specifics of those talks, he estimated that they will boost West’s wealth to more than $10 billion.
Bloomberg reported in March that Ye was worth $6.6 billion as a result of lucrative deals with Adidas and Gap, but Sudan claims that amount is conservative. Ye also intends to work musically with Emin Agalarov in order to boost Emin’s profile in the United States.
The Sunday Service shows will be Ye’s first in Russia in his 25-year career, and the concerts, as well as the meeting with Putin, are something Ye has wanted to undertake since launching the Sunday Service initiative in 2019.
The Sunday Service performances will most likely take place either the Crocus City Hall theatre, which seats over 7,300 people, or the Grand Sports Arena at Russia’s Luzhniki Olympic Complex, which seats 81,000 people and hosted part of the 1980 Olympic Games. Putin will be a special guest during the gospel concert.
