Novak Djokovic has been experiencing all kinds of problems with the Australian government. One of the world’s finest tennis players has been denied entry into Australia on his way to compete in the Australian Open. The reason he was not allowed into the country is because Djokovic is not vaccinated against COVID-19.

Djokovic now says the entire thing was a huge mistake. The tennis star claims that he tested positive for COVID last month. Novak believes his natural immunity should have been enough to get him into the country.

It was not previously known that Novak Djokovic contracted the virus in December, according to TMZ Sports. Djokovic was hoping to defend his Australian Open championship. Officials cancelled his visa upon his arrival and was sent to quarantine at a hotel.

The Djokovic family believes Novak is being held hostage. Government officials contend that he can leave whenever he wants. The controversy set off a massive debate over travel rules in Australia.

Djokovic was initially granted a medical exemption to allow him into the country. That exemption was questioned by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison. A hearing on Monday will determine whether he is allowed to play.

The Australian Open kicks off on January 17th. There is still time for Novak Djokovic to work something out. Djokovic would have had no problem whatsoever if he were willing or able to take a simple injection.
