Eminem is famous for the story of his emergence from obscure Detroit battle rapper to the most successful MC of all time. Shady has competed with a lot of talented people along the way. Marshall Mathers knows the ins and outs of what it takes to be elite in the battle rap game.

Hollow Da Don is one of those elite rappers. Da Don has competed in Shady Records Total Slaughter and a slew of other battle rap leagues. Hollow recently talked to podcaster Mikey T about his time in the scene. Hollow Da Don said Eminem told him he was one of his favorite battle rappers.

“Literally, I’m right there, like, ‘Yo, Em!’ He was like, ‘Come on, I know who you are, man. You are one of my favourites!’ Then Paul Rosenberg like, ‘Alright, come on, Em, I don’t know who the f*ck is this’. It’s just me, Em, Paul Rosenberg, and the staff in the building.

Alchemist was there too, and Denaun. I was right there next to The Alchemist. I met Em, chopped it up real quick, though. Boom, he went on stage and got busy. That was one of the highlights of my life.”

Eminem giving a battle rapper a shout out is no small compliment. Shady is a force of nature in the rap game who owes his beginnings in the business to the sport. Hollow Da Don is thrilled to have one of his heroes call him a favorite.

Da Don went on to talk about whether he thought Eminem would return to rap battles. It sounds like Shady would rather focus on his music than compete. That leaves the entire scene for Hollow Da Don to take over.
