Donald Trump has been trying to regain his ability to reach the American public after being banned from all mainstream forms of social media. Trump’s banisment came after he continually spread lies about the legitimacy of the 2020 Presidential Election. The Donald lost the electoral vote to current President Joe Biden. Several legal challenges have also failed completely.

Trump has been largely off the American radar unless you are specifically looking for him. The disgraced former President has been relegated to appearances on conservative media outlets. The audiences for those networks already largely believe in his big lie.

A new social media service has been in the works for months. Trump is hoping to use the platform to make his political comeback and to give a voice for those who would otherwise be banned by Twitter and Facebook for spreading false information about politics and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. That service is now set to launch in February, according to The Guardian.

Truth Social is available for pre-order on the Apple App Store. The listing says that President’s Day will be the official release date. In 2022, that falls on February 21st.

Donald Trump has gone without a voice on social media for over a year. Trump supporters waged a seige on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021 in an effort to overturn the election results. There have been very few mainstream public appearances by Trump since then.

Donald Trump rode social media to his unlikely election victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016. Without the tool at his disposal, Trump has become largely irrelevant. The new social media network is his latest effort to once again be seen as a part of the mainstream of American politics.
