Donald Trump told his supporters to stand up and fight or there would be no more United States on the morning of January 6, 2021. The rowdy crowd then headed to the Capitol building after hearing those words, some were already on their way. The U.S. Capitol was under siege by those same people just hours later. One year later, Trump planned to say something to his public, but he decided against it.

Trump rallied his followers based on the debunked conspiracy theory that the 2020 election was stolen in a conspiracy that reached even the lowest levels of local government. The chaos that followed resulted in several deaths. Many of the January 6 rioters have already been convicted of crimes relating to their participation.

The former President had scheduled a press conference on the one-year anniversary of the insurrection in Washington, D.C. Trump planned to reiterate his false claims of a stolen election. The move would have obviously been in very poor taste. The Donald has now scrapped the presser, according to CBS News.

“In light of the total bias and dishonesty of the January 6th Unselect Committee of Democrats, two failed Republicans, and the Fake News Media, I am canceling the January 6th Press Conference at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, and instead will discuss many of those important topics at my rally on Saturday, January 15th, in Arizona—It will be a big crowd!”

Mr. Trump will now air his grievances at a rally in Arizona on January 15, 2022. Trump will continue to try and overturn an election that was decided over a year ago. The move comes as the Congressional investigation into Trump and other officials’ role in the riot begins to heat up.

There has been no credible evidence of widespread fraud of any kind in the 2020 United States Presidential election. Donald Trump will continue to spin his fairy tale in the hopes that he can fool disaffected Americans into giving him their continued support. As the 2022 mid-terms draw near, it could be Trump’s last chance to maintain his stronghold over conservative America.
