MTV has had incredible success with their series of reality competition shows based on “The Challenge.” The formula of young, fit people competing in physical challenges strikes a nerve with fans. There are some big personalities who have made nice careers from their participation on The Challenge and its various spin-offs.
One of those stars is facing legal trouble. Darrell Taylor was recently arrested for public intoxication. The 42-year-old reality competitor was taken in after being found lying in an apartment complex hallway by police in Burbank, California.
According to TMZ, Taylor was stumbling around and ringing random doorbells before taking a nap in the building. He was found by police lying on the ground in front of an apartment. Darrell was so intoxicated that police had to take measures to protect his safety.
Police booked him on a public intoxication charge. He was later released. Taylor said he was just lost. He claims that he accidentally entered the wrong apartment building after taking a wrong turn.
Darrell has won four different MTV reality competitions. He was the champion of “The Gauntlet”, “The Inferno I and II,” and “Fresh Meat”. He also competed on an additional five seasons of The Challenge.
Darrell Taylor’s total winnings on MTV reality competition shows is $248,000. He’s also raised money for charity and competed on the show’s All Stars competition. Some of those big winnings will now likely go towards paying his fines. Time will tell if he will be welcome back for future seasons.
