Carli Lloyd enjoyed one of the most legendary careers in American international soccer. The explosive midfielder represented the United States as they brought home two World Cup championships. She was a popular media figure who became known for her camera-friendly disposition.

Lloyd stumbled upon some hot water recently when she miscalculated how the public would respond to a tweet. Carli criticized a FedEx driver for leaving her packages too far from the door. She expected to receive support from fans. The exact opposite happened.

“Ringing in the new year with soaked ruined packages. Guess the extra 5 steps from our @FedEx driver to place under the covered section of the porch was a hard task to endure. #noonecaresabouttheirjobanymore”

The reaction was overwhelmingly negative. It got so bad that Carli has now quit Twitter. Replies poured in suggesting that Lloyd should think about the stress the driver is under.

The retired soccer star left one final message for the critics. Lloyd said she should know better than to tangle with the keyboard warriors of social media. The account has not been deleted yet. The offending tweet is no longer there.

Bye Twitter. I usually know better than to come on here amongst the warriors!

Carli Lloyd is used to receiving the adoration of the public. Her contributions to women’s sports in the United States are unrivaled. Her tone-deaf tweet will make it a little harder for Carli to interact with those fans.
