Dr. Dre Drops Embezzlement Charges Against Ex-Wife Nicole Young

Dr. Dre and his ex-wife Nicole Young went through an ugly courtroom drama over their divorce. It concluded with Dr. Dre emptying his pockets. Dre’s over $1 billion fortune has been a source of contention between the two for months. Dr. Dre abandoned his case against his ex-wife Nicole Young after accusing her of embezzling $350,000 from his Record One studio, but it wasn’t because he was feeling benevolent.

They reached an arrangement this week, leaving Young with a $100 million payoff. The agreement also released Young from the charge of allegedly embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from the record label. As part of their divorce settlement, the 56-year-old N.W.A rapper agreed to withdraw the claim against Young, according to records acquired by Radar.

The music executive’s legal team pushed aggressively for Young to be deposed in the case just days before their divorce settlement. Dre sued his then-estranged wife in September, accusing her of stealing more than $350,000 from his company’s bank account.

Dre and Young apparently had access to the “maintenance and management” of the record label’s assets prior to their divorce, allowing her to make checks and move payments. The Next Episode rapper claimed Young “decimated” his assets by allegedly “embezzling and stealing” $353,571.85 from the company’s account before they removed her from the trust. Dre also accused her of using that money “for her own, personal obligations.”

Young, he alleged, had broken Penal Code 496, which may have resulted in a jail sentence for his ex-wife. He’s changed his mind now that she’s agreed to only take $100 million out of his estimated $800 million fortune. Dre has decided to give Young a big lump payment in order to end their bitter divorce.

The ex-couple waited until the last possible moment to make their move. They were planning to fight in the next months, but they declared a truce early this week. Young will receive $50 million this year and another $50 million next year from Dre.
