There is a caliber of reality television that keeps us entertained, shocks us with drama, and makes us a little jealous of designer wardrobes. Real Housewives is exactly that kind of a show. It turns out that what fans see on-screen isn’t always the full picture.

You’ve probably watched endless fights between the women on the show, season after season. But what if you found out that those fights aren’t actually real? Yes you read that right, viewers are mostly unaware of what goes on behind the scenes.

During an interview with Dave Quinn, he said that he interviewed more than 185 people to gather information to write his book. It is titled “Not All Diamonds and Rosé: The Inside Story of The Real Housewives from the People Who Lived It” He got to know exactly what goes on behind the scenes and how everyone is managed.

Carole Radziwill revealed to Quinn that the fights that you see on screen aren’t actually real fights that the women are having. We’re not observing characters acting out an elaborate plot, but rather real people living their lives as they see fit. She said fights can emerge due to anything and doesn’t depend on what it may be shown on TV.

“She’s actually the one who told me that a lot of the arguments you see on the show have nothing to do with what they’re arguing about and more to do with the show in and of itself, that that framing of the show often encourages disagreement that people can’t actually say”

It’s great to see former cast members coming out to shed light on what goes on the backend of what we see on TV. It really gives us perspective on how else we can view a show. Now that we know how the fights are portrayed and what’s the real motive behind it, we might look at the show a different way.
