Suge Knight got on stage at the 1995 Source Awards and called out Diddy and Bad Boy Records. Years later, Cease had something to say about the interaction, because he witnessed a rare conversation between two rap legends.

The 1995 Source Awards is etched as one of the most infamous moments in Hip-Hop. That period of the genre is classic hits which continue to be playlist favorites and as well as birthed unforgettable rap music beefs.

At the infamous Source Award back in 1995, Death Row creater Suge Knight was on stage to receive his award. While on stage, he gave a speech that’s unforgettable after nearly three decades. Suge declared,

“One more thing I’d like to say: Any artists out there that wanna be an artist and want to stay a star, and don’t wanna worry about the executive producer tryin’ to be all in the videos, all on the record, dancin’…come to Death Row!”

Now in a recent sit-down with VladTV, Cease admitted that Suge’s words caught all of them of guard. They were all surprised as they had no clue Suge and Puff Daddy had a beef going on.

We didn’t know about—I didn’t know if him and Puff had no beef. We didn’t know about them havin’ no issues and situations like that,” he said. “We didn’t think nothin’ of it because while we was there during rehearsals and things like that, we was actually seeing them.”

Cease recalled seeing Daz Dillinger and Snoop Dogg and there wasn’t anything to suggest that there was an issue. According to him, “everything was all love.” It was cordial and mutual with the Bad Boy Records. He added, they had no idea Death Jam was trying to sign Tupac and everything was all love until Suge got on the stage.

Cease claimed that Bad Boy Records crew were just looking at one another with confusion when Suge openly dissed them. The crew was ready for a fight but instead of reacting Diddy advised them to keep calm for the moment. You can watch Lil Cease speak about the intense moment below.
