The holidays are a time for gathering with friends and family. The global COVID-19 pandemic may downsize many of those celebrations. Families around the world are still getting together to celebrate Christmas.

Many Americans don’t have the luxury or the option to do so. There are 2.3 million Americans who will be spending the holidays behind bars. Those incarcerated include a number of high-profile celebrities.

Just because they’re behind bars doesn’t mean they don’t get some special treatment. TMZ has reported on the holiday prison meals of the famous. Some of them sound pretty enticing.

Joe Exotic of Tiger King fame will get to enjoy a Cornish hen, macaroni and cheese, salad, and a baked sweet potato. There is also a vegetarian option if he’d prefer tofu. It sounds like a lovely spread considering the circumstances.

Infamous drug lord El Chapo will also be munching on Cornish hen. For dessert, he’ll get peanut butter pie. Mark David Chapman murdered John Lennon. His reward is chicken breast, potatoes, spinach, and ice cream. He’ll also get to watch “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

R. Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell are both housed in the same Brooklyn facility. They will also eat cornish hen and mac and cheese. Their holiday also includes Christmas activities such as arts and crafts and a musical talent show. Kelly previously enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving spread in the facility.

Derek Chauvin will be served beef stroganoff, carrots, bread, an orange, and eggnog cake. Chauvin was recently convicted of murdering George Floyd while serving as an on-duty Minneapolis police officer. This will be his first of many Christmas meals in the slammer.

Even those who have committed heinous crimes want the chance to have a little Christmas cheer. These celebrity inmates will get a special taste of home this season. It isn’t a cheerful gathering with loved ones, but prisoners welcome any lift to their spirit they can get.

What do you think of the Christmas menus for these celebrity prisoners? Let us know in the comments!
