December 18 would’ve marked the 51st birthday of DMX, but his family and friends celebrated the day in his memory instead. The rap icon passed away on April 9 and the world is still mourning such a great loss. He had plenty of loving friends and children as well. One close friend wanted to make sure DMX knew that his kids would be okay.

Now, DMX’s uncle and confidante DJ Superior is opening up about his final interaction with the rapper. DMX was admitted to the White Plains Hospital following a catastrophic heart attack and died days later.

“I would’ve been so happy if he got up,” Superior told The Sun during a recent interview. He continued, “His uncle was on his knees saying, ‘You don’t gotta go yet.’”

“Rest man. I got you. I got your kids but you got a lot of kids. I think he was looking down laughing at that one,” Superior spoke of the final moments he shared with the rapper before his passing.

“It was hard to see him laid out like that, but how I saw it is the world couldn’t hurt him anymore. People were always taking his money, using him, misusing his funds, smiling in his face and then talking bad about him.”

Superior went on to add that DMX never cared about the money and believed in giving back to his community. He said that the first thing the rapper did after becoming rich and famous was donate $2 million to fix a church’s roof.
