“The Daily Show” host underwent a botched surgery in 2020. Now, Trevor Noah has decided to hold the people involved accountable for their alleged negligence.

Trevor Noah is suing the Hospital for Special Surgery as well as Dr. Riley J. Williams who operated on him. He accuses the Dr. Williams was negligent during the surgery he underwent in Nov. 2020.

In court documents obtained by Page Six, Trevor claims that both the New York City hospital and orthopedic surgeon were “careless in failing to treat and care for [him] in a careful and skillful manner.” The case is filed in the New York Supreme Court.

The 37-year old comedian claims he was a patient under Dr. Williams between Aug. 25 and Dec. 17, 2020. He underwent the surgery that year on Nov. 23. The documents also state that Noah suffered “serious personal injury” that are described as “permanent, severe and grievous.”

Noah’s injuries have allegedly left him “rendered sick, sore, lame, and disabled.” The lawsuit is much more serious as the comedian claimed he suffered a loss of enjoyment for life. This will certainly be a blow to his career as a comic.

None of the court documents reveal what Noah’s procedure was for. Dr. Williams’ hospital profile states that he is a specialist in knee, shoulder and elbow related surgery. According to Penn Medicine, orthopedic surgeons can treat a number of body parts such as bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles.

People reported, a representative for the Hospital of Special Surgery denied Noah’s claims calling them “meritless.” Details are still scarce about the situation and we will continue to monitor this story for future updates.
