We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Kangol Kid. He passed away at 55-years-old after a battle with colon cancer.

The warning signs were there. After Several Hip-Hop peers in Kangol Kid’s inner circle started posting prayers for him, it raised a red flag for his fans. Hour later, news broke out Kangol Kid passed. He fought Stage 4 colon cancer for 10 long months before succumbing to it on Dec. 17, 2021.

Kangol received his initial diagnosis in February and immediately started chemotherapy. His condition continued to worsen over time. In October, Kangol revealed he had to be hospitalized and needed more surgery.

At the time Kangol took to Instagram to share his condition with friends and fans. He asked for forgiveness for not returning calls and more.

“Things have become, and are becoming a little more difficult than imagined. I’ve been admitted again for complications related to my condition. Thank you to those who have been instrumental in my latest ordeal. Your actions have been well received and greatly appreciated. I am blessed to have you by my side through this. I love you all.”

Kangol didn’t go out without putting in a good fight. In a March interview with Pix11 News, Kangol stated was feeling better after his initial surgery. His surgery required 10 centimeters of his colon to be removed. He also mentioned his friends who helped keep his spirits up.

Originally a b-boy along with his dance partner Doctor Ice, Kangol went on to form U.T.F.O with late Educated Rapper, Doctor Ice and Mix Master Ice. The group soon became a major figure in the Hip-Hop category with their breakout single, “Roxanne, Roxanne,” which spawned one of the best diss tracks of all time.

Kangol was 55 at the time of his death. Heartfelt Condolences started to flood social media after the news of his demise broke out. His passing certainly leaves a dent in the Hip-Hop world, many noting the massive contributions he made to the Hip-Hop culture.
