Cleveland Browns quarterback, Baker Mayfield has currently been sidelined on account of having tested positive for COVID-19. It seems that the situation is proving a little frustrating for Mayfield.

The Browns recently suffered a COVID outbreak, which has affected the team severely. Unfortunately for the Browns, the NFL has decided to not postpone this weekend’s game due to financial reasons.

Mayfield has a few thoughts on the NFL’s decision, as well as the changes they have made to their COVID protocols. It seems that the quarterback wants them to just “make up [their] damn mind on protocols” already in a frustrated tweet.

@NFL Make up your damn mind on protocols. Showing up and making only 3 teams test?!? All so you can keep the game as scheduled to make money.

Amongst the drastic changes that the NFL has made to its COVID protocols is the elimination of in-person meals and the requirement for more masks. In addition, the league is also ordering teams to conduct remote or outdoor meetings, and banning outside visitors on road trips.

Mayfield, however, does not think that the NFL has the players’ best interests in mind, believing that “actually caring about player safety would mean delaying the game.”

While the NFL has claimed that these new changes are based on data and backed by science, it certainly seems like financial considerations have trumped player well-being.
