Benzino recently talked about how he was able to get so many high-profile features on his debut album. One of the stories involved R&B bad boy Bobby Brown sinking his boat. Scarface, Brown, Raekwon, and others all featured on 2001’s “The Benzino Project.”

VladTV asked about how he got Bobby Brown on the record. He said he didn’t even have to pay him for his feature. Bobby had sunk a $40,000 boat.

“Well, Bobby’s situation was… Bob was just a wild boy. I got a bunch of stories for Bobby…

I think I rented out Jennifer Lopez’ house. Me and Bobby was going to record… Went out on the boat… His ass goes over there [into a no-wake zone] and we kinda had to go over there and tow him out… Bobby Christina’s crying… We couldn’t go anymore…

The next day, we come… The damn thing sunk. Paid like $40,000. So, Bobby did the verse. He said, “Man, I’ll just do it for free.”

The Benzino Project reached #84 on the Billboard 200. It hit #24 on the R&B and Hip-Hop chart. Benzino says he’s proud of the songs on the record.
