Dana White is known to be a very controversial figure when it comes to the proper payment of UFC stars. He was called out for this fact many times by the likes of Jake Paul. However, it cannot be dismissed that Dana White has made UFC what it is today as it remains the most popular promotion for MMA in the world right now. Dana White is also known to care about the wellbeing of his fighters in the promotion.
Jake Paul became the unexpected champion when it comes to UFC fighters receiving fair pay for risking their lives in every fight. Jake Paul had previously blasted Dana White over UFC not paying their fighters properly.
For months now Jake Paul has taken shots at Dana White and there are no signs of him stopping. Dana White recently fired back at Jake Paul by stating that Paul is only starting a fight with him to get noticed and that he has a short shelf life. Paul would then clown Dana White in a huge way.
While speaking with Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports, Dana White was asked about the disparity in pay between boxers and UFC fighters. White made it clear that UFC fighters do get paid more than boxers.
“Yeah, definitely. Listen, when you talk about the elite, I’m putting on 44 fights in a year, right? And people are buying these pay-per-views, you know. 13 or 14 a year, watching all the other ones building, whatever. Then, when you look at what most of these guys make, most UFC fighters make more than boxers, okay? Most UFC fighters make more than boxers, especially at a lower level. Then, the guys, you know, the Khabibs, the Conors, the Rondas, you know, even the Jon Jones’, these guys make more than most of these guys that are fighting for big title fights. Don’t believe the bull***t. Don’t believe all the stuff you hear. These guys make a lot of money.”
Dana White also previously stated that nobody comes close to what the UFC pays their fighters. Regardless, the discussion of UFC fighter pay is unlikely to die down anytime soon.
