The life of a rapper has its pros and cons, as it is never smooth sailing for anyone in the world of Hip-Hop. While there is certainly a lot of money and fame that comes with being a rapper, there is also the risk of gang warfare that ends in their deaths. It seems French Montana has an interesting take on rappers.
French Montana is certainly one of the rising stars in the world of Hip-Hop right now as he brings his own unique take on the genre. He is well aware of how difficult it can be to become huge stars in the Hip-Hop world.
While speaking with Ebro Darden for the Rap Life Radio show, French Montana talked about how his competitiveness led him to stop drinking alcohol.
Health reasons aside, the main reason for him stopping drinking is simply because he couldn’t stand to see his peers surpass him in the music industry.
“Yeah, it’s hard. I’m going to celebrate, but right now, I just, I want to stay laser-sharp to focus on getting some things out the way …. What I realize about people that be affected by those kind of things, sometime the train pass you and you don’t even realize it. You chasing the high instead of chasing that train that you should be on. You know what I mean?
I feel like I seen a lot of my peers that came from less fortunate places and accomplished so many things,” he said. “I feel like I could have been … I’ve been seeing a lot of my peers that just surpassed me and I’m like, ‘Yo, how they doing it?
Like, yo, they act like they drinking with you … Like how Akon used to be with the Shirley Temple acting drunk?” he said. “And I’d be like, ‘Yo, you don’t even drink.’ He’d like, ‘Man, I got to act drunk with these people.’ I like, ‘Yo, I got to learn from that.’”
French Montana will continue to work hard producing the best music that he can for fans and that is unlikely to change anytime soon.
