Chris Cuomo was previously suspended with no clear timeline in late November. As he had tried to help his brother by using personal contacts to influence the accusers in his sexual assault case, CNN took to severe action against the former host of Cuomo Prime Time.
The American television journalist has now reportedly been fired from CNN. Even though the claims against Cuomo were alleged in nature, CNN has claimed that it was the newly surfaced information that has made them terminate his employment.
CNN disclosed the information about Cuomo’s firing through CNN Communications, which is often used for them to communicate important changes to their followers. CNN said in the statement that despite the termination, the investigation is still on-going.
Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week pending further evaluation of new information that came to light about his involvement with his brother’s defense. We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately. While in the process of that review, additional information has come to light. Despite the termination, we will investigate as appropriate.
Chris Cuomo had even admitted to the fact that he guided and advised brother Andrew Cuomo’s staff. As this was against the rules at CNN, they decided to suspended him indefinitely, ultimately releasing him from the company.
Cuomo tried to predict and lobby with whoever could potentially accuse his brother next. His texts revealed the names of the most likely users, including Anna Ruch, who had actually accused Andrew of kissing her at a wedding.
