UFC fighter Geoff Neal has been arrested for driving under the influence. The incident occurred on Thanksgiving. Neal was said by police to have a firearm in his possession at the time of his apprehension.

TMZ Sports reports that Neal was taken into custody at 3:47 AM, early on Thanksgiving. He was released from lockup at 8:08 that night. Neal is scheduled to fight at UFC 269 on December 12 in Las Vegas.

The bout with Santiago Ponzinibbio is still on, according to UFC. The company released a statement regarding the status of the fight. They have been in communication with Geoff Neal and expect the bout to occur as scheduled.

“UFC is aware of the recent situation involving Geoff Neal. The organization has been in communication with him and is in the process of gathering more details. Neal’s bout at UFC 269 on December 11th remains as scheduled.”

Neal has denied the allegations. His attorney says blood test results will show that Geoff was under the legal limit. The attorney also said the gun he was carrying was legal.

Geoff Neal and his legal team believe the charges will be dropped. The attorney, Brandon Barnett, has claimed that reports on the incident are premature. Neal enters the fight with an impressive 13-4 record and has a real chance to become a contender and is currently ranked the #18 welterweight in the promotion.
