Jay Jay Phillips, the 1980’s rock and roll throwback who made waves for his America’s Got Talent performances has sadly passed away. The 30-year-old musician died from complications related to COVID-19. TMZ reported on the awful news. The Cleveland native made two appearances on the reality competition show.

Jay Jay was sick with COVID during Thanksgiving week. Family and friends frequently checked in on him. The day before turkey day, he took a turn for the worse.

His family begged him to go to the hospital. Jay Jay said he just needed more rest. That was the last they ever heard from him.

When Phillips’ mother and girlfriend went to check on him on Thanksgiving Day, they found him dead. Phillips hadn’t been vaccinated at the time he contracted the virus. He had talked recently about planning to get vaccinated.

Jay Jay’s father is also struggling with the disease. The two lived together. His dad is hospitalized and in a fight for his life on a ventilator.

Jay Jay Phillips first appeared on AGT in season four. He was an early cut that year. He returned during season 12, where he performed better. Phillips just barely missed the quarterfinals that year. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends, family, and loved ones of Jay Jay Phillips.
