Clarence Avant was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his legendary career as an executive in the music business. On Tuesday night, he experienced an unspeakable tragedy. During a home invasion robbery, his wife, Jacqueline Avant, was shot and killed. The couple was married for 54 years.

The murder happened at the couple’s home just outside of Beverly Hills. TMZ reports that law enforcement got a call at 2:30 AM reporting a break-in. The caller said that somebody was shot. Jackie had been taken to the hospital before police arrived on the scene.

A source close to the family say that Clarence was home at the time of the intrusion. His condition is currently unknown. We only know that the intruders shot and killed Jacqueline.

Clarence Avant is known as “The Godfather of Black Music.” His legendary career in the business has been praised by some big names. In the past, Jay-Z, Diddy, Babyface, and more have sung his praises. Jackie was with him for his Hall of Fame induction in October.

Jackie was the President of the Neighborhood of Watts. The community support group focused on childcare. She was also on the board at UCLA’s International Student Center.

Jacqueline Avant was 81 years old. She will be sadly missed by her family. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to Clarence Avant and his family and loved ones.
