Alec Baldwin claims he didn’t pull the trigger on the firearm that killed Halyna Hutchins. This is the first time he has made such a claim. Baldwin’s first sit-down interview since the tragic shooting on the set of “Rust” will air Thursday night on ABC.

TMZ reports that nearly two minutes into a recently released clip, George Stephanopoulos questions Badlwin intensely. One of the questions he asked is whether the actor pulled the triger. Baldwin says the trigger was never pulled.

“Well, the trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger.”

It isn’t clear what exactly Baldwin meant by his answer. TMZ asked Hollywood gun expert Steve Wolf to try and explain what he might have intended to say. Wolf says Baldwin is just playing semantics.

Wolf demonstrated in a video that even a slight amount of pressure can cause the type of gun involved in the shooting to go off. He may not have intentionally pulled it. He says it’s obvious that the gun was triggered to fire.

We’ll wait for more context when the interview airs. In the meantime, ABC shared the preview on Twitter. You can view it below.
