Cardi B didn’t stop after getting another Grammy nomination last week. She continues to write her legacy in Hip Hop’s history books. Last night her diamond certification portfolio saw another addition.

Cardi becomes the only female rapper in history with multiple diamond hits. The Bronx rapper’s 2018 collaboration with Maroon 5, Girls Like You crossed 10 million sales in the United States. One Monday, November 29, the track became eligible for diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

This is the second time Cardi B’s song hit the diamond bar. The internet-celebrity-turned-rap sensation celebrated her historic moment writing on Twitter. She tweeted:

“Wow I got two Diamond records! Thank you sooo much @maroon5 for including me on this song and this is the song I cater to my daughter every time I perform it. I’m forever grateful.”

“Girls Like You” previously topped the Billboard Hot 100, where it dominated for seven weeks. It is the ninth track from Maroon 5’s 6th studio album, Red Pill Blues (2017). The music video, posted on May 31, 2018, has over 3 billion YouTube views.

The song won multiple Billboard Music Awards while earning a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2019 Grammys. Maroon 5’s Adam Levine said of Cardi’s cameo,

“She was in the honeymoon period of her moment. She was just beginning to be that female artist that everybody was talking about, and I thought it was an important thing for her to be involved. I knew she would have an interesting take on what was being said, and she would do it in a way that you wouldn’t necessarily have thought of.”

According to Chart Data, Cardi B is the third female artist ever with multiple diamond singles. She joins the exclusive club with Katy Perry (who has three) and Lady Gaga (who also has two). Cardi B might add another feather to her cap at the 2022 Grammy Awards in January, where her 2021 solo hit “Up” is up for Best Rap Performance.
