LeBron James has been dealing with injury issues all season. He was recently suspended for an errant elbow that nearly caused a brawl between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Detroit Pistons. His team is a mediocre 11-11.

LeBron spoke about the frustrations of 2021 in his post-game presser after the Lakers beat the Pistons on Sunday night, November 28. James said the adversity keeps adding up. It’s made for one of the most challenging seasons of his storied career.

“[This season] ranks right at the top of any other challenge I’ve had in my career, which actually brings out the best in me, and I love that. I love trying to figure out how we can be better, get through the mud, get through adversity, and just make it sweeter on the backend.

I feel like we haven’t even scratched the surface on what team we can be. We’re gonna continue to get better and better as we continue to learn each other more and more, continuing to work into our system offensively and defensively.”

It certainly hasn’t been an easy ride for the Lakers. They’ve been without LeBron James for a large chunk of the season. Controversy and injuries seem to be following them everywhere they go.

At 11-11, there’s still plenty of time for things to turn around. If they can stay healthy and focused, they’re clearly a championship-caliber team. Time will tell if the fortunes continue to haunt them or if they will start to heat up as they reach the quarter turn on an already tumultuous campaign.

Can the Lakers overcome adversity and win another NBA title? Let us know in the comments!
