Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder played lovers in the 1992 Francis Ford Coppola adaptation of Dracula. Their characters were married in one scene. Reeves says in the eyes of God, the two are really married.

Ryder has previously made similar claims. Keanu says Winona still believes the two are married. The scene even used real priests. Keanu reacted to the “wedding” in a chat with Esquire.

“We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests. Winona says we are. Coppola says we are. So I guess we’re married under the eyes of God.”

Winona Ryder made a similar claim in a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly. She believes the two are married in the eyes of the Lord. It’s not just Keanu talking crazy.

“We actually got married in ‘Dracula’. No, I swear to God I think we’re married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.”

Coppola himself described the ceremony as so realistic and authentic that the cast and crew quickly realized the duo were really married. The two have been personal friends for decades. Apparently, they also consider themselves husband and wife.
