NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is never shy about voicing his opinion on current athletes. Not even LeBron James is safe. Now, Kareem has turned his focus to another sport. The Hall of Famer has called out Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for his lies about his COVID-19 vaccination status.

Other celebrities have also commented negatively on Rodgers’ behavior. Stephen A. Smith called out Aaron’s hypocrisy. Howard Stern lambasted Rodgers on his morning talk show. In the most recent issue of Abdul-Jabbar’s Substack newsletter, he tore into the QB. He says Aaron Rodgers failed his responsibility to his team and the public.

“The pandemic has revealed several athletes who abuse their position and responsibility, not just to the public, but to other professional athletes’ livelihood. That latest egregious abuser is Green Bay quarterback and three-time MVP Aaron Rodgers who directly and deliberately lied to fans and the public when he assured everyone he was ‘immunized,’ knowing that word would be interpreted as his being vaccinated.”

After testing positive for COVID-19 and being forced to sit out a game for the Packers, news broke that Rodgers used a word trick to mislead everyone about his vaccination status. His actions may have been in violation of the NFL COVID-19 guidelines. He might face suspension from the league. He then went on Pat McAfee’s podcast and blamed cancel culture and wokeness, while saying he received medical advice from tv sports announcer Joe Rogan. Abdul-Jabbar harshly criticized this series of events.

“He wasn’t vaccinated. And he got COVID-19. And he went maskless during in-person press conferences, which not only violated NFL rules but put everyone else’s health at risk. Instead of consulting immunologists, he consulted anti-vaxxer and podcast host Joe Rogan, who also contracted the virus.”

The negative press keeps coming for Aaron Rodgers. He was recently dropped form one sponsorship deal. His most high profile endorsement, State Farm insurance, is sticking by him so far. The firestorm will continue until Rodgers faces up to his actions.
