The basketball world is in shock. Perhaps they’ve never seen a player that is so uninterested in playing for his team. Ben Simmons is still playing hooky, claiming that he has mental issues that are preventing him from playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. Of course, this is old news by now.

He requested a trade way back in June so it seems he’s willing to play for someone. It is this fact that perhaps is growing frustrating for many involved. Not since the heyday of Dennis Rodman have we seen someone so irresponsible with the work put in for their respective team.

Although in defense of Rodman, at least he showed up to play, despite missing so many practices and deciding to party in clubs and in hotel suites with one Carmen Electra. Who can forget the by now historic story of when Michael Jordan actually showed up to said hotel suite to physically get Rodman to practice?!

At the current moment though, it would certainly seem that there’s no one…perhaps even the three legends of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen to get this guy to get on the court. Does he hate Philly this much, or is there more to this picture we’re not seeing right now? Regardless, the fans are getting frustrated.

“At this point im willing to accept a bag of balls for Ben Simmons. The rumors of the meeting he had w/ Daryl Morey is telling. I thought after the “kumbaya” meeting w/ his teammates maybe he’d play w/ 76ers. But he’s using mental health to sit out & get paid. Nope, boy BYE,” says one twitter user.

Another says: “Ben Simmons really going to have mental issues if the Sixers keep winning without him since he really thought he was the best player on the team.”

Another puts it this bluntly: “Enough is enough@BenSimmons25 just get on the court and start attempting 3s.”

It looks like this frustration can go on and on however, as Daryl Morey, president of the Sixers, stated that this can actually go on for quite a while despite discomforts.

“You’re going to think I’m kidding, I’m not. This could (go on for) four years“.

So the issues are not even at the cusp of being resolved apparently. It has to be stated though, that if he truly is experiencing mental health issues, there is nothing more important, and we support his wanting to get healthier and better. The problem here, is that that doesn’t seem to be the case for now, and fans and the team are certainly growing frustrated.
