Tim Allen Losing Lightyear Role To Chris Evans Was Not Politically Motivated

Buzz Lightyear is certainly one of the most popular characters ever made by Pixar. Lightyear has always been voiced by Tim Allen throughout various mediums. However, that changed after it was announced that 2022’s Lightyear will be voiced by Chris Evans instead.

Chris Evans is certainly excited about the role. However, many fans wondered whether Tim Allen’s recasting was due to his support of Donald Trump. Many believed it was a direct shot at Tim Allen.

According to TMZ, it seems Tim Allen’s political beliefs had nothing to do with Chris Evans replacing him as Buzz Lightyear. It seems the decision to have Allen replaced was for novelty’s sake.

It was said that the upcoming origin story for Buzz Lightyear is about the real astronaut that toy Buzz Lightyear is based on. To have Tim Allen voice the real Buzz as well simply wouldn’t have made any sense.

It was added that Tim Allen still works with Disney on various “Toy Story” projects when they come up involving the original Buzz Lightyear. So it seems there is no beef between Allen and Disney and perhaps that is for the best.
