Things are not looking all that well for the Kansas City Chiefs this season. Tensions are certainly rising after the franchise dropped below a .500 record for the third time in five weeks. Now it seems the team’s fans have been called out for being toxic as well.
Fans are upset that such a talented team of players are not performing at the level they should be. The fans have also made sure to let players know of their disappointment over the past few weeks.
This is certainly a common thing in professional sports of any kind. However, what is not common is when players themselves respond to all the backlash they get from fans. It seems this time it was safety Tyrann Mathieu.
A very engaging and polarizing post by polarizing post by @arrowhead.nation saw Hitchens speaking his mind about the fans of the sport. He noted all the accomplishments his team had made.
“All we did was go to 3 AFC champions games and 2 Super Bowls and 1 SB win .. in my first 3 years here so far !! y’all fans will never be satisfied it’s sad !!”
Anthony Hitchens stated that it is sad that fans aren’t satisfied with the results of the past few seasons. Mathieu took things one step further as he called out the fans for being so toxic.
“This might be one of the most toxic fan bases in all of sports. I don’t care how you feel. You can’t beat me at anything life has to offer,” Mathieu said to one user named @whiskeytullos. Then to @derek_heaters: “that’s your problem, you listen to haters. Y’all people are trash.
Fans are likely to get passionate about a team if they have been following them for a long time. Even then, there is no need to be toxic to players who are trying their best to live up to expectations. We hope fans no longer try to be toxic from now on.
