The Eternals is Marvel trying to initiate the next phase for their MCU programming. While The Eternals offers a cast of a refreshing cast with some of the most established superstars in the industry, it features a rather unique superhero. Makkari, the Eternal, is deaf, but her deafness is rather a superpowered quirk.

Makkari might look like a simple The Flash-analogue to the uninitiated. She runs at superspeed, creates whirlwinds and jumps with such speed that it is gravity defying. However, her deafness actually becomes her advantage in many situations while setting her apart from her other counterparts.

Lauren Ridloff, who plays the role of the speedster Eternal in the film, revealed to The Los Angeles Times that the deafness is something that aids Makkari. She told the outlet:

Let’s just say Makkari would not be as fast as she is if it wasn’t for her Deafness. I can’t wait for people to see the movie and be able to finally talk about it.

The Eternals is one of the most ambitious Marvel projects ever. It hosts one of the most diverse casts in history. The celestial beings are tasked with the objective of saving the humanity from the Deviants. Being a directorial project of Chloé Zhao, the movie boasts a cast of Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Don Lee, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Barry Keoghan & Angelina Jolie. The film is releasing on  5 November, 2021 in the USA.
