Kobe Bryant’s widow, Vanessa Bryant, is still dealing with a terrible situation revolving around her husband and daughter’s death. Photos emerged of that crashed helicopter and she filed a lawsuit. Now Los Angeles County wants Bryant to prove her emotional distress.

Loa Angeles County wants Vanessa Bryant and other family members to submit to psychiatric exams as part of her lawsuit. USA Today reports that Vanessa and other members of the family must submit to those exams to prove emotional distress was inflicted due to those crash site photos.

The county argues that the crash is the sole cause of distress, not the county workers taking photos of that crash. The legal documents show that the county is arguing that such independent medical exams are necessary to determine the “existence, extent, and nature” of the alleged distress.

“Plaintiffs cannot claim that they are suffering from ongoing depression, anxiety, and severe emotional distress and then balk at having to support their claims,”

Attorneys representing Vanessa and other plaintiffs’ families are fighting the county’s attempt at requiring the exams. As of this writing, Bryant’s legal team has not responded publicly to these requests.

This is obviously an ongoing situation and we will continue monitoring the situation here at Thirsty.
