William Shatner, known for space exploration on Star Trek, is blasting off for real. The 90-year-old Captain James T. Kirk is heading to outer space.

Shatner is traveling to space on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin. The Captain of the USS Enterprise will take his space journey to real life as he hops on board a craft on October 12th. He will take off from West Texas to become a real rocket man.

He will join Audrey Powers, Blue Origin’s VP of mission and flight operations. Two other passengers will join them on this trip to outer space. They aren’t expected to be out of Earth’s atmosphere for long, but it will still count as a trip.

The legendary actor made this announcement official as he tweeted out to say, “Yes, it’s true; I’m going to be a ‘rocket man!’”

We’re hoping for a complication-free flight for Shatner and the rest of the crew. Hopefully, this will be a great experience as Captain Kirk finally goes to space.

Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News opened the door for a new opportunity for Jenkins. With a history in finance, he broke into the journalism game by writing on blogs and other freelance websites before branching into sports and entertainment news. Being in tune with pop culture doesn't mean it has to make sense, but he tries. Favorite bands include any group from Seattle who formed between 1991 and 1999. 5 Ozzfests under his belt and 12 Warped Tours, but his last concert was a bluegrass AC/DC cover band that was not 100% terrible.
