R. Kelly has been compared to several things throughout the years. This comparison is an honor that some might protest.

According to TMZ, Kelly’s defense team dragged legendary civil rights leader MLK Jr. into their trial. His attorney compared Kelly to MLK. This was a pretty outrageous claim considering the multiple sex crimes Kelly is on trial for.

Closing arguments are going down Thursday in the federal court in Brooklyn, NY — and defense attorney Deveraux Cannick drew the comparison by telling the jury Kelly is demanding prosecutors prove he’s guilty beyond a reasonable doubt … the same way Dr. King fought for Constitutional rights.

She then went to quote some of MLK’s “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech, “Somewhere I read of the freedom of speech. Somewhere I read of the freedom of assembly. Somewhere I read of the freedom of the press.”

Then she argued the correlation of Kelly and King because Dr. King wanted the government to uphold the Constitution. Apparently, Kelly wants the same thing, only with his sex crimes? R Kelly’s team seems to be throwing hail Mary attempts at this point.
