The Wire’s Michael K. Williams was found dead in his New York apartment with a drug overdose. This has sent a wave of shock throughout fans as well as the entertainment industry.

Williams’ death has triggered a criminal investigation, according to TMZ. As the star was found dead with a suspected heroin overdose, the NYPD detectives have started looking for the drug dealer responsible for getting Williams the drugs for interrogation.

The actor was found with drug apparatus, which suggests that drugs were definitely at play. While a toxicology report would reveal any narcotic substances present in his blood, it would take a lot of time to be out.

Michael was famous for his numerous roles in various TV series such as The Wire, Lovecraft Country, Boardwalk Empire as well as Hap & Leonard. The actor was 54-years old at the time of his passing, and it seems there’s a grueling investigation ahead before fans learn about the truth behind Williams’ death. The Wire’s creator David Simon took to expressing his grief on the actor’s death through a tweet.
