DaBaby was supposed to have a featured verse on Kanye West’s new Donda album, but that didn’t happen. When Ye finally released Donda for the world to hear, DaBaby was nowhere to be heard. You can listen to the album here.
The controversial rapper caused a huge stir at Rolling Loud when he dropped homophobic language and spread misinformation about HIV/AIDS. That didn’t set well with fans and he was pulled from multiple concerts and festivals since then. This new update from DaBaby is not one he ever wanted.
“JAY-Z, Kid Cudi still on DONDA and DaBaby removed LETS GOOOOO,” one fan tweeted out. Obviously, there aren’t a lot of crying eyes over DaBaby getting cut.
“So a DaBaby feature is the reason why #DONDA hasn’t dropped? DABABY?!?!?!?!!????” another fan theorized. We’re not sure what kept Kanye’s insane genius from hitting our ears sooner, but he dropped $1 million a day on rent at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium while he wrapped up the album.
DaBaby did record a verse and leak some of that audio on his Instagram, but DaBaby hit the cutting room floor in the end. It was thought that DaBaby replaced Jay-Z, but Hova made the Donda record.
Kanye’s Donda album had a ton of hype on it and they didn’t need DaBaby. It might have been considered too risky, proving Ye had, at least, a moment of clarity while producing a record that some described the environment as “toxic.”
