16-time World Champion John Cena carried the company on his back throughout the PG era. He returned last month at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view and started a feud with Roman Reigns, which culminated in a match at WWE SummerSlam. Cena also introduced a new t-shirt design that seems to be a blatant copy of a CM Punk design.

In the main event of SummerSlam, Roman Reigns defended his WWE Universal Championship against John Cena. Despite John Cena’s best efforts, he simply couldn’t beat The Tribal Chief and fell to a devastating spear.

That wasn’t the only thing worth talking about as John Cena introduced a new t-shirt design that was a clear homage to classic box cover art for Super Mario Bros. 3.

However, it seems the art itself is seemingly a rip off of an older t-shirt design for CM Punk. Fans who were watching the show at home immediately realized that the design was almost identical to a CM Punk t-shirt on Pro Wrestling Tees. One fan took to Twitter and pointed out that fact as well.

Well that’s one way to reference CM Punk returning. #UniversalTitle#SummerSlam

It certainly is very interesting timing considering CM Punk just made his AEW debut the previous night at AEW Rampage: The First Dance. Cena is also expected to appear on the upcoming episode of Friday Night Smackdown, so we will have to wait and see what he has to say after his loss to Roman Reigns.
