R. Kelly’s name has been dragged through the mud after being in prison on a separate federal indictment that includes child pornography, sexual exploitation of children and conspiracy to defraud the U.S. Government.

An alleged associate of the rapper had pleaded guilty to setting the rapper’s ex-girlfriend’s car on fire as well. On top of that, he was accused of having sexual relations with a 17-year-old boy. The disgraced rapper’s sex trafficking trial is set to take place this month.

According to a report by TMZ, the disgraced rapper is trying to use legal loopholes in order to drop charges related to herpes. According to legal documentation, the rapper has asked the court to throw out charges for knowingly exposing sexual partners to herpes because the legislature didn’t include herpes in the law as it is “Not An Acute, Bacterial Venereal Disease.”

Kelly was accused of exposing 2 people to an STD in March of last year, and the charges were added to his already long list of charges. Kelly’s legal team claimed that herpes does not fall under the umbrella of STDs such as syphilis or gonorrhoea.

It was stated that the New York State Dept. of Health and the World Health Organization classify herpes as a virus, not a bacterial venereal disease, leading to Kelly wanting the charges dropped against him. It is likely R. Kelly will be behind bars for a very long time, even if his lawyers asked judges to postpone the trial.
