Kathy Griffin has revealed via social media that she has lung cancer, and she has never smoked. This requires a surgery where half of her lung will be removed, but she is optimistic about her situation despite how terrible it is.

Griffin revealed that she will hopefully not require chemotherapy or radiation, but this is still a lot to process. The past four years saw the famous comedian cancelled and her mother sadly passed away last year as well. Now she is dealing with lung cancer, but thankfully, her doctors caught it in stage 1.

I’ve got to tell you guys something. I have cancer. I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed. Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked! The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung. Hopefully no chemo or radiation after this and I should have normal function with my breathing. I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less. It’s been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh and entertaining you, but I’m gonna be just fine. Of course I am fully vaccinated for Covid. The consequences for being unvaccinated would have been even more serious. Please stay up to date on your medical check ups. It’ll save your life. XX00, KG

Griffin generated a ton of controversy with her outspoken criticism of former POTUS Donald Trump. That was the center of “Kathy Griffin: A Hell of a Story,” a 2019 documentary which detailed her struggles after the right came down on her. She pressed on and continued touring despite that. Now she has another battle to fight.

Let’s get to know each other. Me? Well, I have a master’s degree in Journalism from Marshall University, but I don’t really like to talk about that. I was a stand-up comedian for eight years, but I don’t really like to talk about that either. I write a lot. I once worked for a company that writes blurbs for online gambling games. Those paid $.75 each. So, if you frequent that kind of thing, then you’re welcome for the description for Biker Chicken Slots or Crazy Granny’s Scratchers. I wish I had more to tell, but due to my crippling anxiety and Tourette’s Syndrome, that has become increasingly worse over the years, I tend to keep to myself.
