Scarlet Johansson is undoubtedly one of the most popular and veteran actresses in all of Hollywood, having acted in films such as Lost In Translation, Marriage Story and others.

Her true claim to fame came as the role of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Unfortunately for Johansson, her film Black Widow’s release became a subject of controversy.

Scarlet Johansson recently sued Disney for streaming Black Widow on claims that the hybrid streaming and theater release of the film has cost her an exorbitant amount of money.

The hybrid release was done mostly due to the pandemic, but also as a tactic to improve Disney+’s standings. The film’s opening weekend box office performance grossed  $80 million domestic, $78 million international, and $60 million from Disney+’s Premier Access release.

According to WSJ, Johansson sued Disney for failing to renegotiate her contract upon the change in the release strategy for Black Widow. It was said that she suffered a loss of over $50 million.

Disney was certainly disappointed at the lawsuit and at this point in time, it is not known how the case will turn out. We will keep you updated on the ongoing case.
